Access 2007 - Intermediate
Move beyond the basics and take your Access skills to the next level. The skills you will learn in this dynamic workshop will teach you many ways to make working with Access easier and increase the usefulness of queries, forms, and reports.

We have designed this workshop for the Access user who has reached the limits of their Access knowledge but not the limits of their Access database requirements. For you to expand the capabilities of a database or troubleshoot and repair an existing database you need to know how to utilize specific features in a relational database. Take this opportunity and learn to normalize database tables, automate actions, and increase the usefulness of queries, forms, and reports.

Prerequisites:
Assumes introductory knowledge/experience using Access as defined by the Introduction to Access workshop topics.

Topics Include:

  • Relational database model
  • Normalization procedures for relational databases
  • Primary key, foreign key, composite primary key
  • Setting table relationships (1:1, 1:many, many:many) and Joins
  • Enforcing referential integrity
  • Advanced field properties including dropdown lists and data validation
  • Enhancing form design (calculations, subforms, command buttons)
  • Automate actions by building your own macros
  • Calculated expressions and summary field values in queries
  • Creating queries – parameter, update, append, delete, find unmatched, crosstab
  • Specialized report features (expressions, grouping, page breaks)
  • Custom input masks
  • Enhancing forms by using VBA code builder
